Joe Russo, along with his brother and co-director Anthony, first made their name directing cult TV shows and the occasional low-budget indie comedy. After working on shows like “Community” (NBC 2009-15) and “Arrested Development” (FOX 2003-2005, Netflix 2013-), Russo and his brother approached Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige to direct the “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (2014) even though he has never directed an action film before. Feige had faith in the two brothers, and the faith paid off in a blockbuster box office hit that also garnered significant critical acclaim.
They are best known for directing four films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU): Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). ).
