Matthew McConaughey

McConaughey had his first early success as an older man hanging out with high school kids in Richard Linklater’s comedy “Dazed and Confused” (1993) and went on to have supporting roles in “Angels in the Outfield” (1994) and ” Boys on the Side” (1995). In 1999, McConaughey made headlines for his comic arrest for disturbing the peace and possession of cannabis: he was found in his home playing loud naked bongos late at night. While accepting the ensuing ridicule, McConaughey starred in one of his most popular films, The Wedding Planner (2001). His career culminated with an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in “Dallas Buyers Club” (2013) and a memorable supporting role in Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street” (2013). He went on to star in Nolan’s sci-fi drama “Interstellar” (2014) and to rave reviews for his role as a philosophical cop in the first season of the TV drama “True Detective” (HBO 2014- ).
